Welcome to this, the Home Page of the Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire Branch of the Western Front Association.
The Western Front Association was formed to encourage interest in the period 1914-1918, to perpetuate the memory, courage and comradeship of those on all sides, who served their countries at home, in France and Flanders and further afield during the Great War.
To achieve this our Branch runs a series of ten talks each year, on a variety of subjects connected with the Great War, which members of the public are warmly welcome to come and join us at. In addition through this website, and other communication channels, we try to make our members aware of other talks and WW1 commemorative events going on around the two counties and further afield. There is no annual membership fee to pay and joining us at the Branch is free - all we ask is for a modest donation, to help cover the Speakers Fees and Venue Hire, at any Talks you may wish to attend.
Above all else we like to think that we are a sociable group who enjoy meeting together each month to share our own research findings and to learn more about this particular episode in our shared collective history.
You do not need to be a member of the national WFA organisation to attend any of our meetings and, indeed, many people turn up for a number of meetings before deciding they would, or would not, like to join the national WFA organisation.
